Signal quality: Fullgoal is one of China's largest active fund managers (~RMB 1.4T AUM). They were NOT a cornerstone investor at IPO (cornerstones included JPMorgan AM, UBS AM, Gaoyi, Taikang). This is a post-IPO open-market accumulation by an active fund manager — genuine, not mechanical index buying or a placing artifact. Motive is partly opaque (institutional, not an insider/director), and may include an A-H spread arbitrage thesis (H trades at 26% discount to A). The signal passes our gate: real buyer, open market, non-placing. The valuation conclusion, however, is that the signal is real but the price is wrong.

Business Overview
Huaqin Technology (华勤技术) is the world's #1 consumer electronics ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) by market share, producing finished smart hardware for global technology brands under their labels. Founded in Shanghai; A-listed on SSE since 2020; H-shares listed HKEX April 2026.
| Segment | Description | 2025 Rev Growth | Margin Trend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile Terminals | Smartphones, feature phones, tablets, wearables (global #1 ODM for tablets 37.9% share; #2 smartphones 25.9%) | +57% | Compressing |
| Computing & Data Center | Servers, AI accelerator infrastructure, PCs; mgmt guides +30–50% growth in 2026 | +High | Higher-margin |
| AIoT & Innovative | IoT devices, smart home, robotics ODM; margin down 5–6 pp in 2025 | +Moderate | Declining |
Structural risk: customer = supplier concentration. The top-4 customers are also the top-4 suppliers, collectively accounting for ~47% of total revenue. Each customer exercises two-way pricing leverage (as buyer of finished goods and seller of components), structurally compressing margins. This explains the gross margin trajectory: 10.9% (2023) → 9.3% (2024) → 7.7% (2025).
The data center AI-infrastructure pivot is the bull thesis — if that segment becomes a larger share of the mix, margins may stabilize or expand. But this is not yet reflected in consolidated results.
Valuation
Method
Profitable operating company → three-scenario owner-FCF DCF (primary) + EV/EBITDA peer anchor + reverse DCF sanity check. DCF currency: RMB (operating currency); converted to HKD at 1.073. Note: reported FCF is deeply negative in 2025 (−RMB 3.7B) due to heavy working-capital build on 56% revenue growth + CapEx surge (+66% YoY). The DCF captures the path from high-reinvestment growth to cash-generative maturity. No FCF-based terminal shortcut was used without the full explicit-period path.
WACC (CAPM, RMB operating currency)
| Risk-free (China 10Y CGB) | 1.73% |

Inputs: Revenue₀ RMB 171,437M; net debt RMB 8,000M (post-IPO); minority RMB 500M; diluted shares 1,075M; tax 15%; SBC 0.1% of rev. Reinvestment modeled as net investment / revenue (CapEx + WC change − D&A), declining as growth moderates. TV/EV ratio: bull 86.5%, base 84.0%, bear 75.6% — high TV share typical for thin-margin, fast-growth industrials.
Bull narrative: Data center AI infrastructure becomes a major margin-accretive segment. Revenue grows at 30%+ for 3 years before decelerating; EBIT margin expands to 4% by 2030 as product mix shifts. FCF turns strongly positive post-2027.
Base narrative: Growth slows to mid-teens within 2 years as mobile ODM competition intensifies. Gross margin stabilizes at ~7–8%. Company generates modest positive FCF from 2028. Data center business provides a partial offset to mobile headwinds.
Bear narrative: Gross margin erosion continues below 6%. Revenue growth decelerates rapidly as major mobile OEM clients bring design in-house or switch ODM providers. Negative OCF persists; rising debt loads eventually require equity dilution. H-share equity is worth near-zero.
Reverse DCF — What the Price Implies
| Solve mode | Implied value | Historical / consensus | Assessment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat revenue CAGR for 10 years (base margins) | 32.9% | GS 32% CAGR 2025–2027 only | Implausible for a decade. Would grow revenue to ~RMB 3.2T — among largest companies on earth. |
| Flat op. margin (base growth path) | 3.36% | Est. 2025 EBIT margin ~2.5% | Requires sustained margin expansion of 86 bp from current — achievable only if data center mix shift fully delivers. |
At HK$81.07 (RMB 75.56), market-implied EV = RMB 89.7B. Reverse DCF run on base scenario parameters via reverse_dcf.py bisection solver.
Sector Multiple Anchor — EV/EBITDA
For capital-intensive ODM/EMS companies, EV/EBITDA is the appropriate primary anchor (thin net margins, depreciation-heavy). At peer median ~8.6×:
- Huaqin EBITDA: HK$5.57B (2.96% margin, verified via investor commentary)
- Implied fair EV at 8.6×: HK$47.9B
- Less net debt (HK$8.6B) and minority (HK$0.54B): equity HK$38.8B
- Per share (1,075M shares): HK$36.1 — deeply below current price even before any growth premium
Applying a 50% growth premium to peer median (justified by Huaqin's 5× superior near-term revenue growth vs BYD Electronics): implied EV/EBITDA of 12.9×, fair value ~HK$56. This converges with our DCF base case.
Peer Table
| Ticker | Company | Mkt Cap | EV/EBITDA | P/E (LTM) | EV/Rev | Rev Growth | Gross Margin | FCF |

| 3296.HK | Huaqin (target) | HK$87B | 17.2× | 20.0× | 0.52× | +56% | 7.7% | −RMB 3.7B |
| 0285.HK | BYD Electronics | HK$58B | ~8.0× | 15.9× | ~0.30× | +1.2% | 6.9% | Positive |
| 2317.TW | Foxconn (Hon Hai) | ~HK$710B | ~8.6× | 16.1× | 0.37× | +15.7% | ~7% | Positive |
| Peer Median | ~8.3× | 16.0× | 0.34× | ~8% | ~7% | |||
| Huaqin vs Median | +107% | +25% | +53% | |||||
Sources: BYD Electronics (0285.HK): HK$25.72 (10 Jun 2026), P/E 15.9× (Investing.com); revenue RMB 179.5B, gross profit RMB 10.76B; net profit RMB 3.52B (FY2025). Foxconn (2317.TW): FY2025 revenue NT$7.93T, EBITDA NT$340B, EV/EBITDA ~8.6×, P/E 16.1× (Foxconn IR + company filings). Market cap estimates and EV/EBITDA for Foxconn derived from EV/Sales 0.37× verified. All conversions approximate.
Target trades at 107% premium to peer EV/EBITDA. Huaqin's +56% revenue growth vs peer median +8% is exceptional near-term. But: (1) negative FCF vs positive FCF peers; (2) declining gross margin while peers hold relatively stable; (3) the premium requires the high-growth phase to persist far longer than the peer analysis window. We do not find the premium fully justified — an EV/EBITDA of 12–14× (50–68% premium) would be more defensible given near-term growth, implying fair value in the HK$55–70 range.
Conclusion
Signal real — price wrong.
Fullgoal Fund Management (富国基金) made a genuine open-market purchase of ~HK$88.7M of H-shares on 9 June 2026. The firm is an active conviction manager (not a broker or index vehicle), and their accumulation to 6.57% of H-shares is notable. The most likely rationale: (a) a bet on the A-H spread narrowing (26% discount to A-share), and/or (b) a conviction that Huaqin's AI/data-center infrastructure exposure is undervalued at the H-share price.
We agree that Huaqin is a strategically important business — the world's #1 consumer electronics ODM is not a trivial asset. However, at HK$81.07, the risk/reward is unfavorable:
- Probability-weighted DCF fair value: HK$57 (−29.5%)
- Reverse DCF implies 10-year flat CAGR of 32.9% — implausible at scale
- EV/EBITDA at 17.2× vs peer median 8.3× — 107% premium for a company with negative FCF and declining gross margins
- Bear-case equity value is negative, reflecting structural vulnerability in a heavily leveraged, thin-margin industrial facing dual pricing pressure
- Even granting a 50% growth premium on EV/EBITDA, fair value converges near HK$55–60
The A-H spread argument has merit: if one believes A-shares are rational, H-shares at a 26% discount are a relative buy. But A-shares at RMB 102.51 (~HK$110) imply a P/E of ~26× on 2025 diluted earnings and are themselves above our bull-case DCF of HK$141.5 only if the full bull scenario is realized.
Honest rating: SPECULATIVE SELL for H-shares at HK$81.07 (June 9, 2026). Would revisit at HK$55–60 if data center guidance firms or margins show signs of stabilizing.
Key Risks
- Upside risk: Data center/AI-server business grows faster than modeled, materially improving consolidated margins. Bull FV is HK$141.5 — 75% upside from current price.
- Gross margin deterioration: If the trend 10.9%→9.3%→7.7% continues to sub-6%, EBITDA and net profit will compress sharply even on strong revenue growth.
- Negative FCF & high leverage: Debt ratio 72.6%; OCF turned negative in 2025. If growth slows before FCF turns positive, refinancing risk rises.
- Customer-supplier concentration: Top-4 customers are also top-4 suppliers. Any client bringing design in-house (e.g., Apple's historical ODM-to-own-design shift) would be a revenue cliff.
- Dilution risk: The company may tap equity markets for further capacity expansion; H-share is the more likely vehicle.
- IPO lockup expiry: A-share insiders face 6-month and 12-month lockup windows post-H-share IPO (some may sell H-shares via conversion mechanism if applicable).
- Geopolitical/supply-chain: Major manufacturing concentration in China; export controls or customer repatriation of supply chains pose revenue risk.
- Signal opacity: Fullgoal may be executing an A-H arbitrage strategy rather than a fundamental long thesis. If A-shares reprice lower, the H-share catalyst disappears.
